Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: October 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") describes content and behavior that is prohibited on the PhyllHost platform. It forms part of our Terms of Service. You are responsible for all content hosted under your account, including content uploaded by your own users or visitors.
1. Illegal content and activity
You must not use the Service for anything unlawful, including content or activity that violates the laws of Ghana or any jurisdiction where your content is served. This includes fraud, phishing, identity theft, and the distribution of non-consensual intimate imagery or child sexual abuse material (which we report to the authorities).
2. Security abuse
- Distributing malware, viruses, ransomware or exploit kits.
- Attempting to gain unauthorized access to systems, or probing/scanning infrastructure you do not own.
- Participating in or facilitating DDoS attacks, botnets or credential-stuffing campaigns.
- Cryptocurrency mining on shared hosting resources.
3. Spam and deception
- Sending unsolicited bulk email (spam) or operating open mail relays.
- Phishing pages, deceptive "lookalike" login forms, or impersonation of people, brands or institutions.
- SEO spam, doorway pages, or mass-generated low-value content designed to manipulate search engines.
4. Intellectual property
Do not host or distribute content that infringes copyrights, trademarks or other rights. We respond to valid takedown notices; repeat infringers will lose their accounts.
5. Harmful and hateful content
Content that incites violence, or that harasses, threatens or demeans people based on protected characteristics, is prohibited.
6. Resource abuse
- Using hosting accounts as general file storage, backup dumps or CDN for content served elsewhere, beyond normal website use.
- Running processes that degrade service for other customers (e.g. runaway scripts, excessive cron jobs).
- Reselling or sharing your hosting resources without our written approval.
7. Enforcement
Violations are handled proportionately:
- Warning — for minor or first-time issues, with a deadline to fix them.
- Suspension — the offending site or account is taken offline until resolved.
- Termination — for severe, repeated or illegal abuse, with no refund for the current period.
Where content is plainly illegal or poses an immediate threat, we may suspend first and notify afterwards.
8. Reporting abuse
To report a violation, email support@phyllhost.com with "Abuse report" in the subject, including the offending domain or URL and a description. We review every report.
